Genny, once again amazing soaps and great names. I like the salt soap... did you color the salt yourself?

Thanks Bubbles. Yep, I colored it with a little ultramarine blue.

I think they are lovely looking soaps :) I'm a beginner too...but they look perfectly soapy to me :) It's really fun cutting up that first one to see what you got isn't it?

Aww thanks y'all! I just realized I should have said this is the first batch in a LONG time. (about 3 years or so) You may as well say I am a newbie again, though! :D

LOL - I caught that part, what I meant was I am new, so my opinion thus far can only be based on the obvious :) Anything more in depth than "Oh, nice looking soap" I do NOT have the qualifications for LOL :)

(But it is still a good looking bar of soap) ;)

So...for kicks today, since it was too hot to go outside, I gave the whole "crockpot HP soap thing" a go...I LIKE that one, dare I say I LOVE that one...AND SO DOES THE DOG!!!! Spoiled rotten evil dog....I am kinda mad too at the moment...

To keep a long story short, this is the same recipe I have been using as far as the oils and lye, but I gave the "freeze your goat milk then add lye to the slush" thing a go (LOVED IT, will try it again for sure) and then after trace and all was achieved I used the old crockpot and COOKED THE HECK outta that soap! I think I kinda over did it on the cooking part, but it wasn't zapping me when I checked, so I was happy...and right before I molded it I added a spoonful of ground rolled oats (which the goats won't miss) and a spoon of honey, just to see....for because I was curious...as to how it would turn out because I am still iffy on adding it to CP soap...but this one had been cooked, so I gave it a go. WOW what a pretty color! AND it smells good too!

I should have taken more pics...but I was waiting on the camera battery to charge...so...here it is:

All cooled off and cut and posed for a picture so you can see the color (the rest are on the rack thingy)

I think it came out a lovely shade that's for sure...now look at this one...SEE THE TOOTH MARKS!! AHHH NOOOO....look closely:

I was SO excited to get my hands on a silicone cupcake mold from a lady at work, I used it too as well as the little loaf one I have...and the dog ATE ONE OF MY SOAPS! She went slinking by shortly after I had unmolded them and I just KNEW she had been up to no good - she dropped it when I said her name! It passed HER zap test that's for sure...see the big ol' tooth marks in it...she may just start farting bubbles and float away! ATE MY SOAP with a GIANT bowl of dog food 10 feet away! Apparently it does NOT zap AND it REALLY smells tasty....stupid dog.....she thankfully only got a few good chomps in, but I could have killed her when she dropped that soap and ran away! She had to have really stretched up on her hind legs to get to it to...thank goodness she is the ONLY critter in the house at the moment...I had a momentary heart attack over the fact she ate soap, but it's been several hours, I am guessing she will live...stupid me for leaving the door to the room cracked...

I guess as long as it smells edible I have a new volunteer for future zap testing...stupid dog...but I really do love that HP soap process....REALLY super neat to watch in the crockpot. Now if only I can get myself to stop trying to cook it "well done"...I kept second guessing it was "mashed taters" stage or not...but I had fun with it today :)

Silly dog! I bet it was the oats the dog liked. Looks good! If it's a small batch, you don't need to cook the heck out of it. Soap gets dry if you cook it longer then needed.

It looks great! My dogs ate an oatmeal soap as well, the vet had us induce vomiting. Darn dogs and their love of oatmeal!!!

   At least the dog didn't get a lye burn! I mistakenly left a wrapped bar of MP soap on the table once and discovered kitty bite marks on it!
