Shan, thanks for the education on faffing! I love it! As for just buying soap from a store.... well there is so much fun and pride to be had when making your own soap. Plus you get to controll the ingrediants that go into the soap - types of oil, color or not, types of fragrance or not, any exfoliants etc. Plus you get a better quality soap, I think. Alot of the large soap makers will remove the glycerin, a natural biproduct of saponification, and sell it to the cosmetic companies. So the last bar of soap I made, Ann Maries Neapolitan, cost me approx 1.50 for a 5 oz bar. But this of course does not take into consideration my time and cost of molds, electricity. I make soap for the fun of it.
