Teach Soap

Well, I would do what they said not to do...'poke at it'. But first I would don all of the protective gear, long sleeves, old clothes, face protection, rubber (thick) gloves, long pants, shoes and socks. Place it on top of a pastic garbage bag and newspaper. Then I would cut it in half just to see what the inside looks like. But now you are talking to someone who likes to drain abcesses! If the inside looks like the insides of an alien then I too would say it overheated which caused separation.

Do you farm too??? I am ALWAYS poking at things around here! It's like second hand to want to see what's happening with stuff when something is ill, dead for no apparent reason, or is having a long slow labor...it's just what we do...me mostly! So yes...I DO KINDA STILL want to poke at it...but have NOT done so!

...it's still just sitting there...a sad log of soap on a rack in my mudroom...sad sad log of not quite soap....I haven't gone out way out back yet...to properly bury it as it were...but I think it is best to lay that sad log of soap to rest...for now... (It's not like I know what I am looking at anyways yet...gotta just let 'em go sometimes I suppose)

Nope, no ranching or farming here. I am a nurse. I do love to garden, craft, bake and above all make soap. In fact I gave up soapmaking this week to make a pumpkin custard cake. We have a co-worker returning tomorrow from an extended illness and need to celebrate. She was very missed.

You could rebatch it in a crockpot or the oven if you have all of the soap and the gooey liquid. I'm not a fan of rebatching - but if there are a lot of materials at stake, I'll do it. If it's a small batch, I don't bother.

And yes, looks like it was from overheating.
