Teach Soap

Heather, if that was your first time using the cheese cutter you may want to keep trying. My first attempt was not real good but it has gotten much better with practice. Since I can't afford, nor do I make enough soap to need a tank I had to befriend my cheesecutter.

Nah, its the way its built, the cutting arm itself slides back and forth a little bit, which makes my soap edges not so nice. Think I need to invest it one that is a bit more sturdy, this one is very cheaply made.

I had one of those for cheese, but then who cares if the cuts are wavy? It finally just broke so now I need to get a cutter for cheese.

Linda, I was trying to come up with a way to put a block in the front of the cutter... I had marked with electrical tape front and side but you are right if you do not hold tight to that log it will slide. Darn slippery soap! I kept thinking I would need to screw a stopper down thanks for the glue idea... will have to try that before I cut my next loaf.

I ordered a new soap cutter from amazon, signed up for a free trial of amazon prime too so I got free 2 day shipping! The new one looks a LOT nicer than the one from BB&B. Going to hot glue a piece of dowel on it to stop my soap from sliding around like mad (thanks Linda!). I got a 50 piece dowel set from AC Moore for different sized swirls, so I'll just use one of the big ones for the cutter!

When I find a camera I'll snap a picture of my planed and beveled dragon's blood soap! It smells amazing! Its so dark its almost black! It has a big of a weird crumbly looking interior texture, but it has no zap and the scrap I tested had ultra lather!

I used my cheese cutter for the first time today. That log slipped all over the place. The base is marble, though. I thought if I had gotten the wooden one it would have been better. I finished out the loaf with my wavy cutter.

I looked at the marble ones, but decided it would be harder to glue an anti-slip rail to. So I got one that is wooden instead. Finding it decently hard to find replacement wires for most models online though.

Mine came with two replacement wires taped to the bottom. I bough it off ebay.
