Actually, PayPal charges 2.9% transaction fee on the total sale amount plus a $0.30 fee per transaction FOR WEBSITE SALES. To use the phone payment option, you will have to sign up for their "Virtual Terminal" option, which costs $30 per month and the fee for using it is 3.1% on the total sale plus $0.30 per transaction. And unless they've changed it, you don't get a card reader. You actually have to key in everything by hand. I used it for a while, too expensive and too much trouble. With Square, there is no fee per transaction, and of course, you've got the card reader. It's also safe: encrypted, etc., and it takes all the same credit cards that PayPal takes. Just something for you to consider before you decide on something! Hope this info helps. :)

Goddess - they have something new coming out next month...I think it is called "Paypal Here". It has a card reader and the fees are different too. I signed up to get more info when it goes live to the public...right now it is only available to a select few. I will post new info when i get it.

JGLMom - thanks for the info! I wasn't aware they had something new in the works - long overdue! I'll be looking for your updates. Maybe their rates will be even better than Square's!

Try gopayment from intuit.com.
I use it and think it is great!

I tried Square for a while and didn't like them. Try calling them on the phone and see if you can get any support. I never could.

Switched to Intuit which is basically the same thing with better customer support and they don't hold your deposit as long. You also don't need the attachment for your phone but it's convenient to have. So you can charge with or without the device. Pretty handy. The device is also free.
