Aaah, just bought myself a 4 cup PP(code 5) jug. It's a soft jug though (meaning I can bend it). Is that ok? It won't melt under the heat of the lye will it? It does say on the bottom that you can reheat stuff in it though, so you think it would be able to withstand some high temperature.

I have been using pyrex for more than 2 years for making soap and so far (crossing my fingers) no issues.
:( Maybe I should move to using plastic or just stainless steel for everything soap.

I have to chime in here. The other poster that said Anne Marie's video's show using the glass measuring cups for mixing....yes they do and it has me so confused. I asked about this on another thread but never got a straight answer. I know to NOT use glass to mix the lye water in (I bought a stainless steel pitcher exactly like the one they sell on BB for this). But, there are glass measuring cups used to pour the lye water into and mix the soap up in. Is this a no-no too? I am terribly confused here....someone please set me straight. If it is bad to use the glass measuring cups to mix the soap in shouldn't there be some little blurb about "don't use glass as shown in this video"??

I have been making soap since 1969. I would never use a pyrex to measure lye, mix lye in or make soap in.

Does anyone know if the Pampered Chef glassware is made of the same substance?? I just ordered some to use for CP soapmaking and now I'm a bit nervous. :?:
