I don't gel because the final soap is lighter in color and fragrances don't morph as much, or stay more true to the original scent. Ungelled soaps do take longer to saponify. If I make a batch in the morning, I can usually cut it by that night (I use sodium lactate & beeswax), but I have to use gloves, as the soap still zaps. After 24 hours, it no longer zaps. It cures out the same as a gelled batch.

Thanks for clarifying Soapbuddy. I've gotten into a rut with gelling and began losing my creative spirit. After 6 years and making about over a hundred bars a month, I'm just now beginning to play with coloring. I've been using natural ingredients to color and swirl. I just received my first batch of blue mica that I plan on trying tonight. Wish me luck.
