LavenderLady, love your swirly pumpkin and beer soap! I want to try to make a pumpkin soap now, especially with the holidays coming up in a few short months!

FarmScapeGoods, love the wolf soap! What a creative idea. Very cool-looking! 8)

Not sure what went wrong, had lye slime on the bottom??? I've had one batch separate on me before, but this is weird. Anyway, first attempt at a column swirl, it moved super fast, like one blast with the magic wand, and we were there. I had to scoop and slap by the end, but still think it looks pretty neat. More on my blog if ur interested.

If there was lye slime on the bottom, I don't think I would use it. It sounds like your fragrance accelerated trace or your soaped pretty hot.

Too bad the batch gave you troubles, I don't think I would use it either .... the swirl/technique and the colors game out wonderfully though!

Farmscape, I really love the colors. A column swirl is on my list to try but it will be awhile. Why not have another go at it? Your color and technique are too pretty not to have a soap like that! Also have to say the wolf soaps are a great idea, you are very creative.

Lavendar lady, love the pumpkin. I am looking forward to doing this again when we return home from vacation in August.

Farm; so sorry you had issues, but it has happened to all of us at one time or the other. Sad to say, it does look like it got emulsified well, so I would question using it as well. That said, it looks beautiful! So try try again!

Thanks everyone. I don't have the heart to throw it out, so it'll sit on the shelve for a while. I may rebatch it, or I'll make equipment wash with it, and it can go through the power washer at the farm. It smells amazing though. The ph is at 9.5 *shrug*

I am thinking though, that I know what may have gone wrong. I have used this FO a lot, and never had an issue with it. This is the first time I've added to the oils instead of at trace though, so I'm thinking that may have caused it to move as fast as it did. I soaped it at 105ish, I didn't want to let it cool any lower cause I was using PKO. My first time using it, so I'm not used to it acts either.

I'm gonna give it a nother go, it really was fun to do.

FarmScapeGoods, so sorry to hear your soap gave you issues, but the swirls do look fantastic!

Kate, excellent soaps, love the swirl - like choc fudge over new york icecream!

Looks great Kate! Congratulations on a job well done! You are being too hard on yourself! I agree it kind of looks like fudge....made me hungry for a sweet!

Here are a couple of my latest/ The first one is Whispering Willow Rain, its a proprietary blend, colored with nettle, spironila, blueberry fibers, and indigo.

and the second is apple jack and peel fo, colored with maddar, red clay, saffron and some td.

I wanted a better red for the top, more like the embed color (which was also maddar and red clay), but this is okay. I guess it is more fallish. :D
