Teach Soap

I made an AWESOME natural coloured and essential oil soap tonight, so why am I bummed? The soap is in my vertical mold (finally!) one side is supposed to be yellow with orange 10X and patchouli EO, the other side is supposed to be purple with lavender 40/42 EO (and a little lavandin EO because I ran our of lav 40/42). The yellow side has annatto seed infused almond oil, and the purple side has alkanet infused almond oil. But my purple hit the batter and BOOM GREY. GREY!!!! Arg!!! So I'll have an awesome smelling yellow and ugly grey soap.

Still, it might turn out pretty,just not the way you expected.

Heather take a peek at my shaving soap in the porn thread I posted earlier....that purple turned grey but 36 hours later when I unmolded it was not bad..turned purplish give yours time and see what happens.

I hope it goes a little purple, but still bummed... a week of waiting for the colour to infuse into my oil and it went grey.

Heather I just realized something I infused avocado oil...I wonder if that makes a difference?

I had that happen with a purple of mine - BUT - after it cured, it was purple again! Cross your fingers!!

From what I understand, alkanet often does that and then change back to purple. Keeping my fingers crossed for you!

I've heard a lot of oddball color stories about purple! That happened to me as well and it went back to purple, not as bright as I wanted, but better than gray. I'm about to make a lavender soap and going to make sure I use more purple. Hope yours morphs back!

YAY! It turned a perfect pale purple!!! Phew!!! The annatto side is a perfect pale yellow too. Both sides have these neat flecks with slight colour halos where the colourants soaked into the colloidal oatmeal and are now dispersing into the soap. LOVE how it turned out, even though the 1/2 turned center divider was a little lopsided! Pics soon!!!

AWESOME!!! Great news. One of the reasons I love soaping. I just never know what's going to happen. Such an emotional roller coaster! Don't you love when it goes right!! LOL Can't wait to see!
