Ok...I'm a little peeved...

I decided to try my first soap batch of the year. I used BB "Soapy Clean" FO.

I added powdered GM to my oils and combined Lye and Oils at about 90 degrees. Everything was going so perfect. The batter was nice a smooth and as soon as I added the FO it started to developed these tiny little lumps. I tried to smooth it out more by stickblending it. It was still pretty fluid and I was able to color it and pour it fine in the mold (but I could not do any of the swirls I was going for).

I can see little bits of bumps on the soap :(
It's currently in the fridge setting and I am curious to see how it will turn out in two-three days when I try to unmold and cut.

Any idea if it was the FO that made it rice? or could it be that I was soaping at too hight a temperature?

90 degrees US? That would be too low for my recipe. I soap at around 110 degrees US. It's possible that some of your oils/butters started to solidify when you added the fragrance and you got a false trace. I used Soapy Clean before. I don't remember having any problems with it.

Oh no... I was trying to use a lower temp since the last time I used GM my soap overheated on me. :(

For my GM soaps, I put them in the fridge or the freezer after pour. If you don't want to go that route, you can elevate the mold and put a fan on it so it doesn't overheat.

Here is a pic of how they turned out. Not sure if you can see but there are all these tiny little yellow bubbles scattered in the bar. Should I try to rebatch it or is not even worth saving? :(

Did you zap test the yellow bubbles?

But if you rebatch it, make sure you ZAP test it again to be on the safe side. I still have nasty memories of a batch that was so pretty but so hard it crumbled when I tried to cut it. It did not zap, so I rebatched it. I have no clue why, but it became lye heavy with major lye pockets and, of course, did not pass the zap test.

So, ZAP test again after rebatching.

Happy New Year anyway!
