I'm curious.

If you used Activated Charcoal to color a batch of soap, that was scented with a FO that discolors (do to the Vanillin Content), will it still discolor... Even if it's already gray/black from the Activated Charcoal ?

I want to soap Pink Sugar, I have Pink Sugar from 4 different suppliers, and I'm pretty sure they are all going to discolor. (I did find a supplier that claims their Pink Sugar will only discolor to a light tan, but I haven't ordered it yet)

Logically yes. Why would the charcoal affect it? The browning, as I understand it, is caused by a reaction between the lye and the sugars present in vanillin. It doesn't seem likely that carbon, an inactive element in soap, could affect that. Just my opinion. I have not been able to find any data on this topic, sorry.

I've seen 24k gold mica reduce the browning in a 10% vanillin FO batch. But that is so far the only time I've seen anything do that.

Charcoal along with vanilla based FO will turn very dark brown to black. It will still discolor.
