Teach Soap

I just got a new mold from soaphutch and have a question. If I use the formula w x h x l x 0.4 to figure volumn and this includes the lye mixture, is there a way to get the proportions right other than just fiddlin' with it?

You could do that formula and divide the number by whatever percentage of water you use and that will give you an idea of how much oil:
10.75 x 7.25 x 1.25 x.4 = 38.97 (I'll round to 39)
39 x .35 (I'm using 35% water) = 13.65 ounces of water
39-13.65= 25.35 ounces of oil

This is just a general formula - but it will give you a good place to start with your oil weights.

Thank you. I ended up adding the water wt to the oil of the recipe I had and then going backward form the wt I want to use.
