what happens tou soap when the mixture doesnt reach trace? i made a batch yesterday and today its a bit like a sponge cake,,,,,im wondering if i measured incorrectly the ingrediants (which i dont think so as castile) or i didnt reach trace,,,,,,any help?

I've not ever made castile, but it's my understanding that it takes a good bit longer to reach actual trace.

I've never not gotten trace, but I would think it isn't safe to use if that is the case. Anyone else?

Pure castile (only olive oil) takes a long time to trace and you definitely need a stick blender. Once traced, it should not be spongey. Try rebatching it. How much did you superfat and did you run it through a lye calc?

with castile, you have to reduce the water content. It takes really longer than usual to come to trace (it's the same with pure Avocado oil). However, if you've mixed lye and oil too cold, it takes still longer to come to trace, you need PATIENCE and luck, sometimes you need to accelerate with putting the pot in oven. However, nothing is lost and you can recycle everything if you're not satisfied with the results
