Morning Ladies...and gents if any :)

So I am melting down my first rebatch and wondered how much water I need to put in it. The batch is almost 3 weeks old, I have added about 2Tbsp of distilled water so far. Should I just keep adding it if it looks dry? It seems to be taking an eternity to melt it..but I am adding more as I go cause it wouldn't all fit in my pot at once. Funny what shredding will do to the volume of it :)

Not planning on adding any FO...just some color I think so I can still test how that recipe was!

Thanks

Sounds like you're on the right track. Just add a tablespoon of water at a time to keep it moist. If too much water is added, you soap will take a much longer time to dry and it could warp as it's drying. It's ready to put into molds when it's translucent and looks like applesauce or mashed potatoes. 8)

Thanks, I just put it in the mold. Made the mistake of trying to do 2 colors :) The stuff I put in another pot to add color was hardening around the edges as I was trying to mix in the oxide! Next time I will stick to one color or do 2 double broilers to add the colors, lets hope the whole thing stays together :)

Was also trying to make the top look all pretty which also didn't work to well so I just flattened it out and called it a day. I will try again next time to fancy it up!

Must say, I had tons of bubbles washing that equipment :) But my hands do feel a little dry so I think since its a relatively new soap that I will still leave it a few weeks before testing it again.

Glad it worked for you! It seems that some rebatches work perfectly and others are more of a PIA.

How long do you leave you rebatches in the mold?

Well that's rebatch/HP for ya, I find that as I let mine sit it starts to look smoother and smoother to me over time. Maybe it's because I start to fall in love with my little soaps as the days go by. :)

Looks good to me. Rebatch is almost always lumpy and bumpy. It's the nature of rebatched soap.
