I decided to make a 100% coconut oil soap with a 20% superfat - no salt. I thought I was making a mariner's soap, but when I read a few more posts from the soaper I got the idea from, she said she does a regular 5% superfat. Sooo....I'm not quite sure what's going to happen here. Please tell me someone else has done this before?

Just took a peek and it's DEFINITELY gelling. Well, it might turn out to be a lovely soap! It smells fantastic (BB Cherry Blossom).

if she does a 100% coconut oil soap and only superfats to 5% that would be a soap that is more drying to our skin. I think you did better by upping the superfat to 20%!

100% coconut with 20% superfat is the way to go. Cut it as soon as you can as the soap normally gets hard pretty quickly.

I just did a 85% coconut, 10% castor and 5% cocoa butter--SF 20%--it jumped into gel VERY quickly and I had to put it in the freezer. I normally keep my coconut oil at 20% or less in any recipe so this one is far from my normal. I'm anxious to try it out---I tried a little sliver of it (don't we ALL try it before it cures?) and the bubble is our of this world and it didn't seem too drying on my hands.

Very high % of coconut will also lather better in the ocean or salt water.
