Teach Soap

So I am a newbie to soap making. I'm waiting on either my paycheck or my tax return to get started. CP has kinda got my facinated to the point I'm planning on getting a starter kit from BrambleBerry along with my MP stuff. I know I also need goggles, gloves, a stick blender, scale, ....anything big that I'm missing? I'm working on a big list of things to get from Walmart/Lowes just to stay organized. Also any tips? How long do I cure the soap for? About 4 weeks? Do you sit it out on wire making racks to cure? OK thats all I can think of now.

Have you read any books on CP yet? Watched tutorials? Read up on websites etc? Things like cure time, how to cure them etc (for example not on wire) are all basics you MUST know before you attempt your first batch. Have you watched / read up on safety precautions, what to do if something goes wrong (what to do if you actually spill lye water on yourself, get it in your eyes, how to use the vinegar), etc.

Soapqueen TV also has a good series of tutorial videos. Also youtube is great! I recommend searching for "Sparklebrook" and watching some of her stuff. Just note that she CAN'T wear gloves (she gets hives I believe), but she still recommends wearing gloves for everyone who can. Gloves are supppppeeerrrr important!!!
