Teach Soap

Sometimes my soap has swirls...different tones of the same color soap...even though I have not added any color. This happened with my castile last night...I am thinking it is a heat issue. Maybe it had started to gel as I was pouring??

hopefully you can open it this way - i have a hard time posting pics to this site. Anyway - as you can see the soap on the left is swirly. The soap on the right was the same recipe made a few weeks ago. 100% Olive Oil, soaped at about 125 degrees and gelled in oven....

That looks like a heat issue to me. It looks like the one on the left gelled longer or at a higher temp. I would try soaping cooler, at around 110 degrees. If you gel in the oven, take the soap out as soon as it's in full gel.

yeah that is what i thought too - such a bummer b/c that first batch came out so even and nice! Do you think it will effect the quality of the soap at all?

It should not effect the quality.

I agree about the heat. But I have to say, I like the swirlies. It gives it character
