I've read that Bentonite Clay helps with the lather, the "slip" of the soap, and the hardness of the bar. If it does all these things, why do soapmakers not use it more often? I purchased a large bag of Bentonite Clay and did use it in one batch (a tea tree & eucalyptus soap). I do like how that soap feels, but am still trying to compare it to others and can't put my finger on what's better/worse about it in comparison to the batches without it.
So.....what are the drawbacks/negatives to using it in CP?
Also, I read that the useage rate is around 2 tsp. per pound of oils. Is this correct?
Thank you!
