Teach Soap

I'm a "search" junkie who has learned a lot from old threads because there have been so many questions asked and answers given already so I don't like to crowd the board with duplicate questions and make people have to repeat themselves. But I've been sitting here playing with the search feature trying to figure out the right keywords to use to find my answer and it's just not working. So please forgive me for asking again.

I've been away from soaping for a year and a half and I can't remember what the suggested maximum rate is for TD. I bought mine from BB but there isn't anything listed on the website.

Anybody know the max amount I can safely use?

TD is titanium Dioxide. The most I use is a tsp PPO.

Yeah, I tried that and still got hundreds of threads, and couldn't find the answer. Maybe my subject line on this thread will help the next person find it!

You're welcome. Most people find if they used too much their soap either gets chalky or crumbly.

I don't know about Australia, but I can get TD powder in the US. I prefer the powder over the liquid.

Do folks prefer the oil soluble or the water soluble?

Make sure you mix the powder SUPER well with whatever carrier you use! If you don't you may get precipitated TD. See the little white flecks in this soap? That is precipitated TD. I've had this happen twice now It doesn't affect the soap, just the look of the soap. The pictured soap works GREAT and is still my best ITP swirl. This is the first batch of CP I ever made. *proud*

Nice Job Heather. I have both types of TD. If I'm using it for the whole batch, I use the oil soluble, stick blended into my oils. If I'm using it in reverse swirls, I use the water soluble mixed with a little bit of glycerin.

Oh, the BB one is both oil and water soluble... that fixes that conundrum!
