Anyone have any advice on how to find out about craft fairs? I am ready to start thinking about doing my first fair and I have been searching for info online with little luck.

Contact your local chamber of commerce. Most have what's going on in your area.

Check out schools and religious institutions, too. Especially around Christmas/Hanukkah, there are a lot of fairs. If you make contact now, you can establish a relationship by the time November comes around!

Go to the spring craft shows and ask other venders for contact info for upcoming shows. Chances are someone has a frier they are willing to share.

Hi, JGLMom. It's been a while since I've done a craft show, but I found out about a lot of craft shows from my local newspaper. Our paper had a "Showcase" section every week that covered entertainment, leisure, and local events. There was usually a little section about craft fairs in there, and sometimes the event organizers ran advertisements, too. If your paper has something like that, I'd check there. If your paper has a website, you might be able to search there, too.

I also found some websites that let you search for craft shows by state or zip code. (Here's one called Craftlister that looks pretty good: http://www.craftlister.com/). You can probably find more by Googling "craft show fair finder" or something along those lines.

You can also check with your local senior citizen center - many of them do craft fairs. Do you have an indoor flea market nearby? Sometimes you can get a booth there for a reasonable rental fee.

Thanks for all the info! I am excited but nervous about starting this new little venture...doing an online, one night sale through a blog called nicegirlnotes.com on March 17th. I think that will be a great kick off for me since she has a few thousand subscribers and these "cute stuff sales" bring lots of traffic to your etsy page! I will update with more info when it gets closer in case anyone is interested in checking it out!

You can also do a search on Google or Dogpile - put in "Craft Fairs in (State Name)".
