I am a newbie and have made several batches of goat milk soap using FO's and EO's. Some of the soap is very scented and some is not. I am using the recommended amount of fragrance and sometimes even more. For instance, my lavender does not have very much scent. Is there a website with more information about which fragrances or essential oils will hold better in goat milk soap? Any help will be very much appreciated. :?:

Welcome! How much lavender are you using to how much soap? Lavender can be used up to 1 oz. to 1 lb. of cold process soap.

Thanks. I am using 12 oz. to 196 oz. of ingredients. Some of the scents I use start out nice and strong but then as they dry they seem to loose the scent.

The lavender came from Brambleberry. It started out strong but the longer it sits the less smell it has - which seems to be happening to a lot of my soaps.

I make goat milk soap exclusively and have found some scents/brands pick up more than others. I had a lilac FO that smelled great in the bottle but couldn't smell in the soap.I decided to double the amount used and it is great-my favorite soap. I have found different sources of lavender EO react differently and the smell is quite different. Some I like and some I don't. May have to try different ones to find the best to suit your taste. Just a thought...

I tend to follow IFRA guidelines and don't go above their recommended (or the vendor's) amount for fragrance. More is not always safe.

Which Lavender is it specifically?

My fave Lavender in CP soap is the Lavender 40/42 http://www.brambleberry.com/Lavender-40 ... P3664.aspx followed by the Lavender fragrance oil: http://www.brambleberry.com/Lavender-Fr ... P3896.aspx

Well I did a smell test with a few people and I am a bit acclimated to the smell I guess. Some of the scents are not holding the smell so I think I will try to use more on some of the scents that my soaps are not holding. Thanks to all who have helped me out!!
