Hi All, I made my first alkanet-infused soap tonight. I try to use only "natural" ingredients, in the usual sense of the word: herbs and EOs for scent and color, no preservatives in my balms other than vit E or ROE, etc. But beige soap gets dull after awhile. OK, there's brown, too, from coffee and cocoa, and orange from calendula, but it seemed like I had a long run of ... beige, with a little slightly green from olive leaves.
So I finally used the alkanet infusion I'd made. The infusion was red, red, red. In the 4 ounces or so of soap, it was deeeeep purple, and now, as a swirl, it looks blue.
I saw the natural color post below--thanks for that! We'll see what the final color is. Hoping for something not-gray. The batch is scented with lavender EO. I'll unmold and cut tomorrow. So keep your soapy fingers crossed that it's a pretty blue-purple swirl!
