does any one know a place in or near the bay area california, that sells raw goat milk? preferably nubian goats milk. TIA guyz!

I was told by a couple of places that farmers couldn't legally sell me raw milk. I use store bought.

I get mine from my local farmers market. Its non-pasturized raw milk. I try to buy more near the end of the season and freeze it so I have some.

Farmers cannot sell milk from the goats or cows directly off of the farm but they can sell shares of milk. In essence you lease the goat for a season and you get your shares of the milk from the goat.

I do a swap with my local goat farmer.......soap or candles for a couple gallons of milk. LOVE the barter system!!

Isn't is dangerous to use raw milk (unpasteurized and unhomogenized) in soap? Or is that a myth I read somewhere?

Raw milk reacts with lye and saponifies. I wouldn't worry about it. Plus the high pH of lye will kill any nasties.
