Here's something I'm dying to know from the experienced soapers...
It seems that the most efficient way to measure out one's fats is to do it all in one pot/container and tare out the scale for each new measurement. i.e. use one container instead of multiple containers which each need to be scraped out and washed. I realize this requires some confidence/experience/patience in order to measure accurately.
What do you do in the case where you say add a teeny bit too much to a pot that already contains other oils/butters? For example, you add 0.1oz more than you intended?
I usually weigh my stuff out separately but based on my mood sometimes I'll do it all in one pot. I've actually dumped out oils/butters because I overpoured by a small amount. I know that is soaping sacrilege but I've only been doing this for about 4 months and so I desire "ultimate" accuracy (my own scale goes to a tenth of an oz/got it from BB).
So, whaddya guys do? I can't believe that soapers everywhere are pouring perfectly accurately every time and/or dumping oils and butters every time they make a teeny measuring mistake. I know SF takes care of SOME of this but not all of course.
Inquiring minds want to know
