Teach Soap

I have made two batches of cp soap from a new "simple" recipe. They have both come out with a crackled appearance. Can somone tell me why this is happening..? is it over heating ? it is also cracked on the top.
My recipe is as follows: 20 % coconut oil,30% palm,10% palm kernal flakes,10% castor 30% olive oil. water @ 9.12 and sodium hydroxide @ 3.319
The finished soap feels and works great but the appearance is a problem.

It sounds like it overheated. How hot were the oils and lye water when mixed? Did you put the soap in the oven?

Both were at 100* and no I have not used the oven method. I did insulate both times. should I insulate "lighter" or maybe not at all? I was looking for a good "basic" that is conditioning using what I always have on hand.

I know the voices in my head aren't real, but they sure have some great ideas!

I would try insulating lighter and keep an eye on it. As soon as the middle start to rise or cracks, take all insulation away immediately and put a fan on it to cool it off. Usually at that point the crack should close up.

Did you used any titanium dioxide in this soap?

I recently had the same problem. The soap still looked nice (in my humble opinion) but definitely not that nice creamy/consistent look throughout.

I think I over insulated though b/c I put quite a few layers of heavy towels over it. (Why I did this I have no clue! LOL) Might have been a little hotter in the house that day too.

I WAS nearing the bottom of my bag of palm oil but I'm very careful to warm the bag and shake/mix it really well before measuring out what I need so I don't *think* that was the issue.

I did not melt my palm oil before before measuring and I did use close to a teaspoon of titanium dioxide . The soap bars have a crackle glass look through out.It looks like I have maybe done a few things wrong that could have caused the problem but none of my other recipes have reacted this way..Guess I will have to try to remedy the possible mistakes and see if it turns out better next time . I may not end up knowing which error caused the problem but That's ok as long as it's fixed ! Thank you all for your help !
