Teach Soap

Hello. As a newer soaper I'm still trying out different recipes and trying to learn the properties of all of the oils. I want a good soap recipe that has no color or scents and would like the natural color to be a pretty lighter color. I want one that offers good skin cleansing benefits but is gentle enough for babies or the most sensitive skin. I like Anne-Marie's - Lots of Lather recipe on the BB Blog and thought it might be good since it has fewer oils (4) but am undecided. Any suggetions?

I think that recipe is a good place to start. You can also google the properties of various oils for when you start tweaking your own recipes. My suggestion is until you are comfortable with the process and your basic starter recipe don't waste precious oils, fragrances or additives, fancy molds ect. Just ideas here. Have fun rule #1. Here is my favorite recipe:
60% olive oil
35% coconut oil
5% castor oil
If you use light colored olive oil the color of the soap is a very pale cream. This soap has tons of bubbles, a great lather and feels wonderful!

You can start with castille. It won't have too many bubbles though. Some people make a bastille version of castille soap by using up to 10% castor. The lighter your oils and butters, the lighter the final soap will be. Soap does not need a lot of ingredients in order for it to be good soap. If you don't mind animal based products, tallow makes a nice white soap. For veggie based, you can try coconut, palm or palm kernel.

Mella .. you are absolutely right ... fun is why we get into this, right? One thing for sure is, I am really enjoying this forum. Thank you Linda, for sharing your recipe! I will try that one! Soapbuddy, I am sticking with veggie based soaps but will have to try making the castille. Thanks for all of your input!
