Hi, I was just wondering the purpose of using activated charcoal in soapmaking apart from the coloring effects, does it have any therapeutic properties. Also does it produce black bubbles or does it stain skin? I am just curious, love the idea of a black/grey soap though :)

Thanks for your reply bubbles, I thought I read somewhere people using it for removal of toxins like clays and muds, just wanted to find out what other soapers were using it for

I also use it to color my soap if I want it black but sometimes it interferes with the EO or FO scenting on the floral notes. It does have that charcoal smell. I also use it to make soap for acne or oily skin, very good at absorbing grease. If you color the whole bar black then you do get kind of black bubble, but it would not stain, at least not to my knowledge.

Cat thanks for your reply, it is good to know that charcoal interferes with some EO's & FO's I wouldn't have thought of that
