Teach Soap

Well, I just made my first batch of cp goat milk soap. I had added it to rebatches but hadn't yet tried it in cp. I chose the canned evaporated goat milk method, because that type is easily obtained at my local grocery store (fresh is not). I made the lye solution with half the water I would normally use (very carefully), then added the other half of liquid in evaporated goat milk (chilled from fridge because I had used some of the can in something else) to the oils before blending in the lye solution. Everything was very easy--I was fretting over it because I have read that milks can cause issues. Nothing untoward happened. The soap turned a pretty orangish color, which is to be expected, and traced fine. It is in the mold now. I am not insulating it because I have read that milk causes overheating.

Sounds fine by me.

But really, you missed all the fun of lye pudding and the stress of not knowing if you will get good soap or a mess. I mean, seriously, you cheated yourself out of a lot of adrenalin and education!

Congratulations, it could be nerve racking, working with the milks. Living in the south, I pop them into the fridge in the summer time so they don't over heat, sometimes even the freezer. They come out great and alot of people love them. You can use the same technique with heavy cream, buttermilk, coconut milk, you name it. Good luck and happy soaping!
