I have some coffee butter that I am wanting to try in soap, but it is not on the calculator, so has anyone used this? What does it compare to, so that I can figure it into my recipe? If you have used it, did you like it, or did you think think it wasn't worth using? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Coffee Bean Butter is created by hydrogenating the oil that is pressed from roasted coffee beans along with, palm, soybean and/or sunflower oils. Where did you buy it? They should list the SAP Value. One site lists their coffee bean butter as having the SAP Value of 175 - 200, another site has the SAP value of their coffee bean butter listed as SAP Value: 190-205. I would say it depends on what oil is combined with the coffee bean oil.
SoapCalc has a listing for coffee bean oil.

When I used coffee butter, I used the SAP for soy oil.

Thanks guys, I will email the supplier, as they didn't list it. I did see the coffee bean oil, but I assumed the butter was hydrogenated so it would be different. It makes sense that different people would mix it w/ different oils, I just wasn't thinking

Did you like the coffee butter in your soap SB? I really didn't get it for the soap to begin with, but I am just thinking it might be nice in that coffee soap I have been wanting to make.

You need a lot of it for the scent to come through and if you use it at a high %, it makes the soap soft.

I plan on adding coffee in place of the water, used coffee grounds for the exfoliant, and this butter when I get a sap value on it.

I made a Coffee soap with triple brewed coffee (run through the coffe maker 3 times) and evaporated Goat's milk for the liquid. I also used dried grounds for an exfoliant. The soap was nice, but there is no coffee smell now that it is cured. If you want coffee scented soap, definitely use a FO.

Would it possibly work if you did hot process and added the grounds after it had gone through sap? I have no idea, just throwing it out there. ha.

I have heard that the fragrance won't be a lot without adding a FO, so I was going to use one, but it was left off my order, as it was out of stock. So then I thought that maybe, just maybe, adding the coffee and the coffeebutter might impart a mild scent to it. I was considering trying it, but coffee butter is rather expensive, so I may just wait until I get my next EO/FO order in. I will definitely let you all know when I make it, whatever I choose.

Thanks for all the comments! Oh, and Jessi, I don't really think that would matter, but even if it did, I don't think I'm into that much effort LOL! Now, if you want to try and then let us know.....I could go for that!

Just got my caramel coffee FO today and don't think I want to use it in coffee soap. It smells much too nice for that. I'm thinking it deserves a nice goats milk soap, with maybe some ground coffee for exfoliation. :P

LJM; oooo, that sound like a good choice! Pictures, don't forget the pictures! And, good luck! It is cold and rainy here right now and I am thinking a cup of that sounds really nice! lol
