I made whipped soap last night and it was so fun. It will be ready to cut tonight hopefully. I colored it with green, pink, and yellow swirls. It was fun but time consuming. I had to wait on my lye to cool down to 70 degrees, because I jumped the gun a whipped my oils before my lye came to temp. The only thing I noticed is that some of the "hard" oils did'nt get whipped all the way. I found a few clumps of oils in the whipped batter when I was spooning in the molds. My guess is that my oils where too hard. My garage is where my work station is and its still a bit cold out. I should have thought of that. I scented it with "monkey farts", a nice tropical fragrance. Do you have to cover the soap to cure with towels and blankets? I kinda got stumped with this last night so I just put plastic wrap over it and left it I figured since its "cold" anyways why try to heat it up:)

What I have done in the past is melted all the oils, then left them overnight. By the next morning, the oils solidified again, but it was easier to whip them up without any lumps. If you have a lot of lumps that didn't get saponified, there is a chance that your soap might be lye heavy. Saran wrap over the top should be fine. If you use insulation and the soap gels, you will loose the trapped bubbles, which make this soap float.
