Do whatever works for you. If you decide to put your soap in the oven at 170 degrees, you can either leave it there til it gels completely, then take the soap out to cool. Or you can turn the oven on 170, put the soap in there, then turn the oven off and leave it there overnight. If you leave the oven on for too long, your soap can overheat or burn. Burned soap smells pretty bad. I prefer to not gel, but when I do, the soaps still cure for 4 to 6 weeks. No matter which method you decide to do, the soap still needs to cure. There is no shortcut.
