Teach Soap

Can I wrap my CP soaps in sarahn wrap after the cureing time to sell? Or do they need to be exposed to air the whole time? Will they mold in cling wrap over a year or so?

CP soap needs to breathe. I would go with a paper band, white tissue paper or a box.

National Shrinkwrap (and probably others) sells polyolefin shrinkwrap which breathes. You can also ask them to perforate it which allows even more airflow. They are a great company and if you are not sure what you want they will help you and will even send samples.
I just like the look of shrinkwrap.

Boxes and tissue paper are great too. I also sometimes use paper coffee filters to wrap my round soaps.

Here is a product that is biodegradable that I saw recently at an open house you might want to look into for wrapping. It does have perforations, National Shrinkwrap 60 gauge polyolefin has micro-perforations. They do give samples of all wrapping if you place an order.

I need to get better about taking pics... I don't have one handy but I will try to get some together.

When I was trying to decide what to use I contacted Art at National and he offered the same thing to me... to wrap a couple of bars of soap for me in their different products. I think that's because he knows if you haven't worked with shrink wrap you might not yet have the tools to seal it and shrink it properly. I wasn't opposed to spending a few dollars for that experiment but I told him I really wanted to get the feel of the different thicknesses etc to see which I preferred working with. So he sent me 5 or 6 different samples. I picked the one I liked and placed the order.

They have a lot of experience working with soap makers so they know what they are talking about. And I'm pretty sure if you get them on the phone you will feel good about them as a company.

Just curious. . . what system did you buy from National Shrinkwrap and how well does it suit your needs? I'm thinking about it because sometimes my soap has shrunk after wrapping in a paper band and I re-wrap them which cost $. I sell about 3,000 bars a year and give away quite a few too.
