Teach Soap

Well I've only got 131 pounds of soap under my belt so I guess that still makes me a newbie <GRIN>

After perusing endless posts from the seasoned professionals, I decided to try a "colder than my normal" batch last night. I mixed at exactly 100 degrees. Blended in 1.9 ounces of RISE AND SHINE from BB (wanted 2 ounces, but had used it up in a batch of OP in a different experiment) so anyway, today I cut the pretty CP soap, but was disapointed in the fade rate of the scent. (soap was made at 5% superfat) The OvenProcessed batch has a much stronger and more pleasant smell.

Does anyone have experience with Rise and shine?
Soapbuddy - any ideas? Soap looks great, feels great, cut well, but the scent left me daunted.

Soap batch size was 58.5 ounces, lye 8.55, water 21.3
Oils of
20% Coconut,
20% Palm,
20% Palm Kernel,
04% Castor,
20% Olive,
16% Canola,

For that size batch I would have used 2.5 ozs. of this particular FO. I would leave the soap be for now. There's still chance that some of the fragrance might come back after cure.

Post Script: I also did not GEL this batch in question. I elevated the mold (so air could move under as well as over) (covered with SaranWrap - no insulation) turned on a fan and faced it toward the mold. No gelling occured that I could tell.

It's a bad sign of aging.. here we're discussing the same problem you actually gave me the answer to in another post, which I happened to have ran across again this morning. I should have taken notes on the first time you answered, so I wouldn't have looked like such a dummy.. and you wouldn't have had the frustration of thinking I just told you this yesterday. Sorry about the double trouble.

Mella, I made it myself. My wife hates it, she says it's too boring. She likes the ones people decorate up with dots, and Mary Englebright designs and such. She says they prompt her to buy.. So I'm still working to evolve it into something that prompts?!?

The scent on the soap does seem to be returning a little.

So it goes with soap making. I do understand however, make some like she likes and do some that keep your artistic flow moving along. One day most of us hope to have a clientele and believe me they will be all over the map with what they want ( well unless your spouse is your only customer!). So just an idea here, keep your creative passion cooking along also for those Sophia Loren, Brookshields and Phil Mickelson customers!

Did you do your website or did someone do it for you? I like the line up.

PS My passion is CP, my husband thinks MP is the best of all even the exotics I've managed to put together! LOL See it takes all to please!

It's an easy program to use.. it's a "What you see is what you get" It's called WebEasy Professional 8. I didn't want to pay someone to keep updating my site every time I made a new batch of soap.

Yes the appearance. I like it because all the choices are there to see and read and you don't have to go from page to page.

Thank you. I thought that was a good idea too, my wife wants me to move it all to the first page, I might do that too. I'm going to try to figure out how to add the paypal doohickies to the page too.

I really appreciate the feedback. It's nice to have outside opinions.
