Well, here we go again. I am trying to find the best way to package my soap neatly for the World Equestrain Games in Kentucky. Most of the molded horse molds are very detailed and raised up designs. I recently ordered shrink wrap bags, and that would work fine, if the soap was flat, but mine isn't. I have wasted so many bags trying to get it just right without wrinkles. One of the persons in charge of the crafts at this event, suggested that I just use cellophane bags. I've tried the gusset bags, and that doesn't look right either. Does anyone have other suggestions. I could put the soaps in boxes, but then no one could see the pretty designs. HELP!!!!

The soaps sound neat. Would a clear Chinese carryout style, maybe with come crinkled packing at the bottom work?
I know packaging, labelling, etc. can be a real bear. Good luck. :)

Is this for CP soap?
When I think of equestian events the things that come to mind are black velvet or colored satin (like from the jocky's clothing). So if you could leave a sample of the soap out and have the other soaps packaged in a drawstring bag of either velvet or satin. If you were to use the velvet and had a rubber stamp available you could emboss the top, like with a horseshoe or horse.
Could you post a photo of the soap and maybe that will trigger some more ideas from others?

Can you twist tie the tops of the shrink wrap bags? You could tie them with a ribbon or some raffia or gold or silver metallic twist ties. Another alternative is cello bags which will look sorta like the tied shrink wrap bags, but with more of a top. Plus they are sturdier. The tops of the cello bags can be heat sealed but not shrink wrapped. A lot of people tie those with ribbon or raffia.

Nashville Wraps or Papermart probably have better prices.

And you can cut and shrink wrap saran wrap or a cheaper brand. Here's Anne-Marie's how-to:

I really can't think of a lot of see through packaging. Let us know if you find something great. Good luck!

It sounds like you are attempting to protect the detail on the top of the soaps. Could you make a cardboard collar to circle your soap? Have you ever seen the metal dam like circular contraptions used to cook pancakes or circular fried eggs. Perhaps you could use say 3/4 inch cardboard collar around the soaps tape and then cover with saran? Good luck and let us know how you ended up protecting and packaging!

i can't remember where i saw this, probably somewhere on this website, but i saw a demonstration of someone wrapping soaps, both flat not flat! with regular saran wrap and a heat gun, like the kind you use for embossing. they demonsrated it and it worked perfectly.

I saw the same demonstration, and I think it was on youtube.
I think I found the solution. I had a few samples of cellophane bags. I had ordered the gusseted bags, and they just didn't look right either. Just yesterday, I started looking at the other samples. The one that I think will work has the straight sides, not gusseted. It has strong tape that you peel off, fold over, and stick it to the bag. At the top is a triangle shaped hole, that you use to place the soap on a display stand. I tried one of my soaps in a bag last night, and kept it hanging up, just to see if the tape was strong enough to hold the soap. It did fine. So, all I have to do is add my label to the back of the bag, and I'm in business. Thanks for your help.

Glad you found something that works. Good luck with your soaps at the World Equestrian Games. Sounds like fun.
