Teach Soap

Hi!
i am new to cp,i made only 6 batch,i want to tray uosing annatto,beet root powder,alkanet root powder, and bluberry fruit fibers.is anybady have expirenc and can shere?

annatto will make a nice yellow
beet root powder will fade to tan
alkanet root powder will give you muted burgundy
bluberry fruit fibers will fade to tan

It's easiest if you infuse the alkanet or the annatto into an oil. Then use part of that oil to make your soap. Add it to your soapmaking oils and count it as part of your total.

Don't forget that some fragrance oils will discolor to different degrees of tan--- no worries if using no scent and you're usually safer with essential oils.

I bought an array of spices a while ago to try in my soaps. I haven't had the chance to try many of them. I tried adding some beet root powder to my lye water... but the soap is whiter than snow. No color whatsoever.

I had very good luck with spiritulina (sp?) powder. It gave me a very nice dark green (I did not add this to lye water, but added it to soap before trace). I find the smell of the stuff repulsive, and it stuck around for a couple of days but has faded and my FO came through winningly.
