Teach Soap

I force gel in every batch buy putting the soap in a warm oven right after I pour. I have my reasons.

This afternoon I checked on a batch that was covered with a towel and had been in the oven for about 45 minutes. No gel yet. But in the very corner of the mold I saw a little gelling starting. Awesome. I was picking around for the towel I misplaced then about 1 minute later began covering it again and saw it spread to like a size of a quarter and was beginning in the other 3 corners of the mold. I'm the kind of guy who can watch grass grow from a hammock on a Saturday afternoon after the work is done. (What can I say.....I'm easily entertained). Well, in about the next 4 or 5 minutes that gel in the corner spread over the entire mold like a little colony of ants eating their way across something. Quite awesome to watch. You guys keep all the best secrets to yourself. I'm making another batch tonight. I just need some microwave popcorn and I'll have a show to watch. Besides, you know how guys are. Sometimes it just doesn't take much.

I want to know how you were able to watch it,,, I'm afraid to uncover to look! I saw a picture of gel on you tube but not in person.

You're not alone. There's something very satisfying about watching gel creep across a soap log.

Sounds unreal, and quite fascinating. I might try cpop just to see it myself

Seeing one of my soaps go through the gel process is what got me interested in CPOP... I wanted to learn how to make the science experiment occur

I have only witnessed gelling when it happens immediately after pouring a floral fo batch into the mold. As it strikes terror in my heart, I rush it to the freezer and hope to stop the gelling monster before it eats up all my scent and makes my lovely milky soap translucent. I guess it's all in the eye of the beholder

Now watching baby goats hopping around in the pasture----- I could do that forever
