I've gotten some very good swirls by doing almost what you did but at a very thin trace.
Seperate your batch into 2 pitchers and color as desired... then pour both into the tube at the same time. The key is to not let it get too thick.
I'll try to remember to take some pics when I get home.

thanks! I've got enough PVC pipe to make a dozen 10x3 molds. I'll eventually get swirling down. :D
