Hello. I have been trying to create some of my own recipes using soap calc. I've made several different batches of soap that have come out of the mold looking and smelling wonderful, but I have found that the bars are drying to my skin and I dont understand why. I've tried different ingredients like babassu oil instead of coconut oil to see if that makes any difference and it doesn't really.
My latest recipe contains coconut oil (24%), olive oil(27%), shea butter(8%), cocoa butter(13%), castor oil(2%), and palm oil (24%) . It is superfated at 7%.
Here are the soap calc numbers
Hardness 48
Cleansing 17
Conditioning 49
bubbly 18
creamy 33
iodine 49
INS 161
This recipe seems a bit drying ..I'd appreciate some input if anyone has any ideas..
I'm considering bumping up the conditioning and bubbly level on this batch...maybe like 55 conditioning and 23 bubbly...with the use of castor oil and more olive oil. I read somewhere that a 41 hardness should be hard enough...Is that true?? If not could I just use sodium lactate to get the hardness?
Thank you all so much....
