Teach Soap

I think my problem may have been the Gardenia but please let me know what you think.
Everything looked good. I added the Gardenia at trace. When mixing it the raw soap suddenly thickened like hot ceral. Is this the ricing I have heard about? I basically had to dump it into the mold quickly. It gelled right away. This am it still has oil on the top? I feel like Im in a rut of bad batches. Any help would be great. Thank you
Palm 15oz
Coconut 15oz
Olive 15oz
shea 5oz
castor 5oz
lye 7.85
Goats Milk 10oz
distilled h2o 10oz
Gardenia F.O 2.3oz

Unless it looked like curds and whey, I would say that the fragrance made the soap seize.

The oil on top could be from overheating. Did you insulate it? I would give it a couple of days to see if the oil absorbs back in.

No I didn't insulate it. Will this still be ok to use?

Give it some time. The oil could still absorb.

Looking at your recipe, you have a lot of castor oil in there. I would reformulate it with no more than 5% castor and add the difference to your olive oil. Your shea butter could be lower too if you want.

Castor Oil 9.09%
Coconut Oil 27.27%
Olive Oil 27.27%
Palm Oil 27.27%
Shea Butter 9.09%
Total Weight 55 ozs.

Well it has been two days. The oil did absorb a little more however it DIDNT pass the zap test. My tongue is still feeling it. Would it be the gardenia that did this. I made the same batch using 3oz castor instead of 5oz then recalculated for my lye. I think 7.6oz lye and water/milk 9.9oz each. I used lavender this time and it came out great.

Now I know what the zap test really means. So what do I do now. Is the batch garabage. Can I rebatch. I have never tried rebatching before.

I know that ever soaper has some bad batches but it sure makes me frustrated and concerned about making more.

If it zapped, then not everything got incorporated. I bet your soap seized then. You could try to rebatch to get everything incorporated. Just make sure that everything gets mixed very, very well.
