i always use the unrefined shea and the unrefined cocoa butter...in all my soaps and my cremes. The smell doesnt come through unless I want it to....
like in my Cocoa creme, the unrefined cocoa butter is the ONLY oil/butter in it, so of course it smells like it......but it smells delicious....lol
my shea cream, like the one above, the unrefined shea is the only oil/butter, and it does smell like it. The shea I use though, it's a pretty pale yellow colored shea and the smell isnt' unpleasant. smells like shea...lol
in soaps though, even as high as 10% of each one (the cocoa and shea) the smell still doesnt come through.
And I do believe that it DOES make a difference whether or not it's refined or not. (Sorry Soapbuddy, you know I love ya!) During the refining process, they take out alot of the good stuff that's so good for your skin. and shea, it's got a high quantity of things it in that cant be saponified, so it stays pretty much "as is" throughout the soaping process and in the end product.
