I made a batch of CP yesterday. I wanted to try a swirl, so I put 1/2 the batch at trace into another container and added dye. As I was mixing the dye to the transferred container the other container started setting up. When I was ready to meld the two together for the swirl, I stirred the "partial set up container" I was trying to hurry as it was setting up quickly. I put it in the fridge and pulled it out before going to bed last night. I checked on it this afternoon around 3:30pm and it had oil spots on top of it. I mopped up the oils spots but haven't taken it out of the mold yet. However, the leftover batch I poured into a silicon muffin tin didn't have any oil spots on top. Is this batch a goner?

Give it a couple of days. The oil could absorb back in. Then check for zap.

This happened to my soap, too. Should I just give it time to dry up?

I usually use individual molds since I've only made 1 lb batches, but I used a small loaf pan lined with bubble wrap instead. My plan was to try layering in the mold. I used a simple recipe that I've made before, but after mixing the oils I split it in half. I added frozen cucumber puree to one half the lye and frozen fruit tea to the other half lye. Then added the different lye solutions to each half of oil and stickblended each separately before adding 1/2 teaspoon of cucumber melon FO to each half. (I was hoping for green and peach layers.) So I poured the peach colored soap into the mold first, then the green on top. It looked like the layers mixed a bit. The temps of the lye and oils ranged from 82 - 95. The mold went into the oven with the light on for 7 hours (CPOP) and finished the night in the oven. When I took the mold out after 11 hours, there was a layer of bubbles on top of the soap - no zap, but tasted oily. After 24 hours I unmolded the soap and the bubble wrap impression and colors look great, but the soap is oily all over. Any idea what happened? I don't want to cut the soap until it is dry. Thanks for your help!

I just took a paper towel and dabbed the oils spots - kinda let the paper towel soak them up. They weren't big glops of oil, just little pinhead sized. I let it sit for 2 days before cutting, it seemed to be fine when I cut it. no oily places in the center or sides just a few on top of the mold. it passed the zap test, so I'm going to let it cure then try one before i give it to my mom. it's a soap for her.
