Teach Soap

Hello everyone. You might find this kind of funny.. I just made a batch of shea butter cocomango soap and in an attempt to make a mango like color I mixed 1/4 tsp flaming red neon oxide and about 1/8 tsp of turmeric powder together and added it to the soap. I guess I used the tumeric powder innappropiately because now my soap has ugly yellow specks in it that almost resemble DOS..So now I feel kind of silly.
Overall, the soap did come out a gorgeous mango color just like what I wanted, but the specks look very strange. There are yellow spots with dark specks of the powder in the center.
I should have stopped this whole thing when I noticed the turmeric was not dissolving as expected but I guess I thought it would mix up in the soap okay.
How are you supposed to use turmeric powder? make an infusion of it? Or maybe I'm just using bad tumeric? I'm confused.

Yes, make an infusion, then strain well.

I made a soap today using smoked paprika which I infused in oil. I didn’t have anything suitable to strain it through so I did a few small tests first with different fabrics. Muslin allowed some granules to sneak through but what did work was a reasonably thick cotton cloth which the oil gradually dripped through. Turned out a nice light orange colour.

Turmeric is definitely on the to do list.
