Soapbuddy, you mentioned that you use the minimum amount of water for lye, then you mix this with your oils, then add the remaining amount of milk (room temp) to the mixed lye & oils. Is this correct? If you don't mind my asking; what do you mean by the minimum amount of water?

Let's say you need anywhere from 11 to 15 ozs. of water. Use the 11 ozs. to dissolve the lye, let cool, then add the difference of 4 ozs. of the milk.

Which soap calculator do you use?

Thank you soapbuddy. I use MMS calculator. I've tried to figure out Brambleberry's calculator, but can't get it to work for me.

You're welcome. MMS lye calculator works well if you need variances in the liquid.

You can always use equal parts of water to lye, then the rest as milk.

Just keep in mind that this is not a 100% milk soap, you can say 'contains milk' but to call it a milk soap would be deceptive.

Thank you jbren. I'm just a hobbyist, just give my soap away to family and friends and they don't care.

As long as you are enjoying what you are doing, and your family & friends like your soap,
then that's all that matters! Enjoy~!
