Hi all - I'm pretty new at this hobby. All I have accomplished so far are a few melt & pour projects. I have been reading alot about cold process. I have decided that I would like to try it. My question is: Can I use empty milk cartons as my mold for cold process? If I can, would I have to line them with freezer paper? Thank you all for your time & comments.

I love the shape of soaps done in a quart milk carton!

There is no need to line. When your soap is hard enough
to unmold, you just snip the carton at the top and peel it
off, kind of in a spiral, like you are paring an apple.

You're welcome...and I know the feeling.
It took me a long while of doing M&P and
rebatching someone elses CP, but once you
do it...there is no looking back!

That is a great idea! It is amazing how many possible molds you can have just lying around the house. :D

I recommend you chop off (or open up) the top of your cartons as soon as they are empty from the liquids that once lived inside. You do NOT want to take whif of fermented milk or OJ. YUCK!

And in case someone is wondering: upright is probably the best way. I tried both an upright mold and one laying on it's side, the upright one is a LOT easier to tear-off and cut.

You can also use Pringles cans. I lined mine with freezer paper.
