I remember seeing a post where "ALL" oils should be included in their lye calculations.

This is a sample recipe I am using for this question:

Apr.Kern 3.2 5.00

Soybean 12.8 20.00

Total Weight 64oz

at 6% superfat, I'm looking at 8.75oz of lye (sodium hydroxide)

I am going to go for a mild-moderate blend of Lavender FO (.75oz) and Tea Tree EO (0.25oz).

So if I'm adding 1 oz. of this blend, does this change the amount of Lye I'm using?

Would like help finding out how to include FO's and EO's in my lye calculations.

I do not include my fragrance oil in my calculations for lye and superfatting because they're not really "oils" with saponifiables in them. If anything, I'd include them in the water calculations ...

That way I understand it that you include all your oils and or butters, but not EO's or FO's.

Maybe I'll do .85 oz Lavender (since it's an FO), and .15 oz Tea Tree EO? I'll be using Lavender Tea as my liquid, maybe that will help.

For a 4 lb. batch, I would go as high as 1.5 ozs. total of the Lavender & Tea Tree. The scent of the Lavender tea will not come through in soap.
