Hi All-

I'm making CP soap for the first time and very excited.

My question is about lining molds. I'm going to be making a small batch and pouring it into a Milky Way Slab Mold. Since, it's not practical to line this type of mold, should i grease it or something?

Also, i want to use about .25% -.50% sodium lactate to make a firmer bar. Will this accelerate trace or cause any other issues i should know about as a first-timer.

Thanks in advance!

Hi all-

I answered my own question or rather Robert McDaniel's Essentially Soap book did :-)

It is necessary to line porous molds like wood and some lightly oil pvc pipe molds. So, i think i'll be safe not treating my milky way slab mold.

Thanks all.

Wish me luck! I'm a nervous nelly about to start my very first batch.

Good luck....you'll do fine.

I always give a slight spray of Pam nonstick spray to novelty molds before pouring. If they're still a little stubborn, put them in the freezer for about an hour before popping them out.

If you have a problem getting your soap out of the molds, you can gently wipe them with mineral oil on a paper towel.

I use beeswax and sodium lactate in every batch and with those type of molds, the bars pretty much pop right out.

I have never needed to grease a mold. Usually, when the soap is ready to come out it will. :D
