Teach Soap

I made my first Soleseife soap tonight. WOW! It sure thickens up fast!!!! I used patchouli and peppermint. Everything was going well, I poured some into a second container to add my blue. I realized I forgot the fragrance so I poured it back and mixed in the fragrance. It was too thick to separate again for my color. So, I squirted some color in and stirred with spatula. Boy, was it thick! I smooshed and smashed it into the mold. Glad it was just a 1lb test batch. If I make it again I will be ready...I hope. I can't wait to try it, I've never used a salt or brine before.

What is a Soleseife soap, Dabbler? Yours looks great!!

I love my brine bars! They feel so nice. I like them much better than salt bars.

A Soleseife or brine bar is made with a salt water solution (usually the salt is equal to 25-30% of your water weight). It's not a salt bar because the salt is dissolved in water and used for the lye solution instead of being added undissolved at trace.

Yep, exactly what she said.^^

I love them, too! I find that if I'm very careful about mixing, I can do a swirl. But it means one or two blasts with the stick blender, then just hand stir to make sure it doesn't break up. Also, I soap at room temp. Any heat at all and you're sunk!
