I just used BB's Ultramarine Blue pigment for the first time. Its gray, does the color morph to blue? (Please tell me it morphs back to blue!!!)

If it's gray, sounds like you didn't use enough, or used oils that have a yellow color.

I used a light sunflower oil to disperse, my white did fine with no yellow tint. I used about 1/4 tsp for a 2 pound batch, I was afraid that would be too much. I also mixed a tiny bit of ultramarine violet into it to make it a little more lavender. The green came out pretty strong, the white is crisp and now the blue is just starting to take on a lavender hue. Its pretty as is, but still a little greyish. :)

I seem to recall that blues can go grey in CP but all the feedback I've read on this pigment reports that it gives a true blue in CP.

With ultramarines you can go as high as 1/4 tsp per cup of soap, so you could have used a little over 1 tsp and been fine.

I don't use ultramarine violet at all. It has always gone gray on me.

I've used it mixed with a bit of violet for lavender soaps, and yes, it looks grey when you first mix it, but it will change to blue/purple. AT least it has for me. I had the same scare as you, though!

I did mix it with a little ultramarine violet and its now morphed to a pretty lavender color. Next time I'll try using more for a stronger blue. :)
thanks, guys!
