Seasons Greetings everyone!

I tried a whole bunch of new things yesterday - Beef Tallow, Tussah Silk (aka Peace Silk) and honeycomb. The soap traced nicely and it went from creamy to almost bright red to dark golden yellow. It did not hoever do a full gel. Here is the picture of the cut soap.....

Thanks for looking...

Cheers

Did you melt the honeycomb to harden the soap?

Thank you! KNINE - I really enjoy trying to come up with good marketing shots so thank you for commenting.

The scent is just natural and I am disappointed that it doesn't have the strong honey scent I usually get with my honey soaps. I melted the besswax down with the honey inside and then used it. Next time I will use more honey and I think that I will start using beeswax instead due to cost. That is on my books to try really soon - I already bought the besswax....

First I have to do some more batches of my Dog Shampoo Dog Bone Shaped Bars using HP because the Pet Store I sold to last Friday is already out.... I am so thrilled..... :D :D :D

Merry Christmas everyone...

Lindy,
Be careful adding more honey than normal. Due to the sugars, your soap can overheat.

I agree, I love your photography!

Soapbuddy - I think that with the honeycomb I had less honey than I usually use so I think I can increase it a but yet.

Vinca - yup this is the one with the honeycomb - no bee parts that I saw. I melted the whole honeycomb and everything looked fine. But when I use the soap I don't think I put enough of the honey in so rather bland smelling, although clean smelling.....

Lindy,
If that's the case, you should be ok then. :)

Well I poured 4 x 1 lb logs from this batch, cut 2 of them into slices and left the other 2 to be cut at markets. Of the 2 left uncut 1 developed dark brown spots with liquid oozing out of it - so I rubbed my finger, did the tongue test and got my first zap!!! I threw out that log and cut the other which didn't have this occur. Totally strange since it didn't heat up enough to get a complete gel and 3 of the 4 logs are fine. I think from now on when working with honeycomb, honey, beeswax, goats milk, etc., I will put them in my spare fridge in the basement which I can plug in when I need to use them.

So I'm disappointed, a little surprised and confused, but it was god to have this happen so I can learn from it.

Cheers
Lindy
