Teach Soap

I don't know if I was successful or not. Last night I got a tablespoon of paste to dilute but it was in 4 oz of boiling water, not 2 oz like the video shows to do. So I boiled some more distilled water, plopped in a tablespoon and let it sit over night and this morning, it is like salt water taffy but the really good kind that is nice and soft and pullable. Here is a picture

Any idea what went on? The recipe is
16 oz Olive Oil
4 oz Avocado Oil
12 oz distilled water
3.8 oz Potassium hydroxide

I followed the Soap Queen video just not her recipe. It all worked just like hers does and everything was on track. It never got as translucent as the paste in the video. I finally turned it off after a cook time of 7 hours. Now I have taffy. The diluted paste was nice and clear by the way. This taffy like substance is a very pretty creamy white color. I don't know!! I am about to give up. Any thoughts?

Some oils will give you that creamy color. It looks fine to me. Try adding just a bit more water.

I added 2 more oz of boiling water to the "taffy" that sat overnight. It diluted fine and is clear with a yellow tint. I assume that is from the oils since both have yellowish hues to them. I guess now my question is do I add more water to the paste that is currently in my fridge to get the taffy consistency and then dilute more from there or do I just dilute all the way with a more water than say a 2 to 1 ratio? I guess the ratio was 2 to 1 since a tablespoon of paste was about 1 oz and I added it to 2 oz of water, but then I guess ultimately I did a 4 to 1 ratio to get it diluted all the way... I suck at math.....

I usually start at 1:1 dilution ratio and go to 2:1 if needed. It depends on how thick you want your LS, the recipe, and how you will dispense it. (Foamers need thinner soap.)

Well if I do a 2:1 then it turns into taffy, not liquid. I will play with it and see. This is just an experiment anyway. So no worries if I mess up.

Thanks for all the advice. I will certainly add a little at a time. I will probably leave it until Monday and then work on diluting. We have company tonight and a busy weekend ahead.I have the paste in a container in the fridge. It should be ok there right?
